Venous Leg Ulcer: Before & After Vein Treatment
Left Picture: This patient presented to Interventional & Vascular Care with a non-healing venous leg ulcer along the left ankle. With ultrasound imaging, we determined that he had an enlarged, refluxing great saphenous vein (GSV) and enlarged perforator veins. Dr. Aaron Fritts treated this patient with thermal vein closure.
Right Picture: 3 months following vein treatment, the ulcer was completely healed! The swelling and skin changes surrounding the ulcer improved as well.
Skin Color Changes: Before & After Vein Treatment
Left Picture: This patient presented with a small non-healing ulcer along her left ankle. The ulcer was surrounded by skin texture changes, major swelling, and skin darkening throughout the lower leg. She had been treated before for deep venous compression and deep vein thrombosis, but her vein symptoms continued. With an ultrasound exam, we determined that she had an enlarged, refluxing great saphenous vein (GSV) and a large contributing perforator vein. Dr. Aaron Fritts treated this patient with thermal vein closure.
Right Picture: 1 month following vein treatment, her symptoms improved and her ulcer had healed. 3 months following vein treatment, her skin had healed and her swelling was completely gone.
